The tale of the Karma Sutra features two stories of love that start and restart in a city of India. One starts in Los Angeles, California where a couple go to rekindle their relationship among other things. The other features an Indian man's quest to follow a destiny and life set upon him and a woman with the same problem who meet in a courtesans palace.

the story is told through erotic sex, erotic music and images. The acting, character relationship and development are sufficient not to be a major barrier in the flow of the film. However the story is mostly carried by the erotic sex, music and images.

The plot is diverse in many ways and can be seen as an attack on the style of American living especially California. Everything has to be new anything ten years old must be replaced. Whilst India restores it's old and looks after it's heritage. So in part the Karma Sutra can be and advertisement for tourism in India.

The first story features the recent couple Michael and Lucy. Michael is an art restore who has trouble with America which is always changing and looking for new things which is why he has trouble with settling down in America always changing city every year. Whilst when he is in India he feels comfortable because India does change quickly, it looks for the old to inspire and wants to preserve it. So the only thing that Michael feels is constant is his job which satisfies him. Whilst his girlfriend, Lucy does not satisfy him and keeps on wondering that soon she will find a new guy and does not want to get hurt so wants to leave.

Lucy on the other hand is fashion designer and is accustom to the changeable world of Los Angeles but her job does not satisfy her. As there is one scene where she walks to her office ignoring her camp bosses' requires of something new, bright and fashionable done in a fashion stereotype. However Lucy wants David so there is a conflict in there lifestyles. As Michael is a statue restore and has a niche in restoring old sculpture but is living in a city where old never lasts. Lucy is fashion designer who is always looking for new fashion so can be satisfied with Los Angeles but does not understand Michael annoyance of this city.

he second story features Venakar and Nonchani's quest to follow their masters both of them are innocent and have a lot to learn about their trade. Venakar is being trained to be a monk his master a guru is strict and absent of all desires and wants Venakar to embody this to his soul. Nonchani is being trained be courtesan. Her mistress is absent from love but is a servant and provide of pleasure and entertainment. Venakar meets Nonchani in her mistress home as part of his final lesson they connect as they share similar experiences in life but things develop to annoy their master and mistress, respectively.

Thus another plot of the Tale of the Karma Sutra can be the tale of conflict, confrontation and resolution in relationships. However some ignorant people of India culture and especially of the Karma Sutra can dismiss the teachings of India culture and Karma Sutra as just an excuse to make a soft porn movie but disguise it as a mainstream movie.

However unlike most sex-inspired films. There is more depth than meets the eye. Through this film if you watch carefully you could study the Karma sutra and Indian culture more carefully. Another plot that can seen in the film can be another adverstisement of India culture but more specifically the Karma Sutra. Travel to India to rekindle your love affair through the help of the Karma Sutra.

Overall the Tale of the Karma Sutra can be a Friday night movie depending on your girlfriend or boyfriends views on erotic sex and the Karma Sutra. But if you are going alone this can be a nice sexually orientating film to get your pleasures heightened.
