Tale of the Karma Sutra review Pirates of the Carribean: At World's end |
The film is about the creator of face book Mark Zuckerberg. The film focus is on Mark zuckerberg connection with people during the creation and start of Face book. This is shown by his tense relationship with Ewardo Saverin one of his friends who he is bossy to. For example he asks rudely for chess algorithm to do a web site to rate girls with. He is Ignorant of the Winklevoss twins’ feelings when they ask him to help run and make a social network website as he does not return their calls. Mark seems not to care about anything or anyone that is not important to him. For example when there was a choice of going to California and meeting Sean Parker or going with Ewardo to get advertising he decides against because he prefers Sean. The film builds this up to say that people with low social skills even if they become rich and successful if it is not sorted out their business or life will reflect on it. This is shown by the opening sequence with his girlfriend Erica(rooney mara) where he is trying hard to impress her with what he can do for her if he gets in to a Harvard Blue-blood old-money final club. This on the other hand is rude and is one of reasons she dumps him. This follows when Mark and Ewardo are building up the company and Mark has not had a girlfriend since the break-up or any friends so has to rely on Ewardo Saverin connection which he got from joining a Blue-blood old-money final club. Overall Mark Zuckberg's character throughout the film is quite anti-social and sometimes hostile who is played by Jesse eisenberg. The character relationship between Val Kilmer's character and Denzel Washington's is like that of Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer in ToP Gun. Denzel Washington is the lead man putting most of the emotion fo film being played off by Val Kilmer who is the silent obverservant guy who helps out Denzel Washington use this new technology to his advantage. His business partner Edwardo Saerin played by andrew Garfield however is more sociable but one wonders if he is a true friend because he has not helped his friend gain social knowledge even though he is complaining about it. This makes Edward a person who is only with Edward to abuse his computer skills because throughout the film I never see them just meeting together without the social network project. The maths in the movie, explaining how they managed by accident to see things in the past is correct making this movie more intelligent than it seems. Though this may be expected when jerry Buckhiemer films, king of action movies combines with intelligent films The Winklevoss twins are posh and do not understand that they are not the gateway to fame or fortune and this shown in their attitude to the people they meet as they never said hi or hello to Mark Zuckerberg when they decided to work. In the film Mark Zuckerberg meets them in the hallway of Harvard with them blocking the way. This is not a good way start a friendship or a business. Also during the film when they are complain many times to their friend that they sent him about 15 messages asking about how far he is with their project which is exclusive social network club. Not in any of those messages did they ask him how he was or whether he wanted to party with them. Sean parker who created napster is famous and has already done the similar work that Mark is trying to do but is not aware that what he thinks is small or easy can be difficult for other people. In the film he is portrayed as very fast and dynamic. In their first meeting when he starts talking about how to grow the business he completely forgets that they are new. He says they have to go to California and start building up the site instead of going to New York and getting advertising. Overall the characters are rude and do not connect well with each other and this shows in their business and their fight to maintain control of it. The film setting is brilliant for setting the tone and explaining the atmosphere and attitude kids live in college and it transfers outside into business world as both of the characters continue their mistrust and business outside. The film makes a statement that is repeated throughout the film. That the big corporates just wants the kids’ idea when they think is successful and mandatory expect them to just hand it for a fraction of the value. So the social network overall is a great film if you want to look into the problems in starting up Internet companies. |
