Tale of the Karma Sutra review |
Pirates of the Caribbean: at Worlds end is the final film of the trilogy. The film is based on old pirate lore, greek mythology, british nave and trade history. The plot follows the death of Captan jack Sparrow (johnny Depp) lost in Davy Jones locker. Lord Cutlet Becket of the East Indian Company has taken control of the Flying Dutchman. Elizabeth Swann ( Kiera Knightley), Will Turner ( Orlando Bloom) and Captain Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) have gather the Brehtren's court to take on The Flying dutchman and Navy under command of Admiral Norrington ( Jack Davenport). Will Turner has to choose between his father bootstrap bill or Elizabeth Swann. After the opening which I will talk in depth later. The next scene shows our heroine Elizabeth Swann in Singapore. In those scenes you see her being searched for weapons. I found that scene very funny as she turns up a hold load of weapons large and small. In fact Elizabeth Swann is the heroine in the movie. This is because she is the one who tells the pirates that they need to group up and fight the British navy. This then causes her to be in a dilemma, as the other pirates say they need Jack sparrow. The other Pirates do not know that she aided in Jack Sparrow's death. Jack Sparrow is one of the two anti-heroes in Pirates of the Carribean 3. It is Jack Sparrow who unites the pirates in Brethren court underneath Elizabeth Swann. Jack Sparrow is the one man the british navy fear. So in the first half hour of the film the East indian company looks secure in controlling the seas. It is fascinating to look at the reaction and morale of the Lord Cutlet Beckets seaman when they realise Jack is alive. I love the part of Jack's sparrow been lost in Davy Jones locker. They show it likes he lost his mind and is in some continuous hell. The other anti -hero is Will Turner. During the film Will Turner has to think how much he loves Elizabeth to compared to the freedom of his father. Generally in the film Will turner's motives are unsure as he came with the pirates to be with Elizabeth and does not seem to care about the safety others or what the british navy is trying to do. This is why he is against rescuing Jack Sparrow as his position in the ship would be lowered. He does not get along with the rest of crew and seem more obsessed with Elizabeth than in love with her. Admiral Norrington chose the wrong the side as he stuck with the law and view all people outside the law or who have broken the law as bad people. He learn the late that not everyone who is good is behind the law and evil against it. He realises it he sacrafices his life so Elizabeth can escape. Lord Cutlet Becket is ruthless and just want power and control. Focus in this film is on the laws of the world. As the opening shows a group of prisoners being dragged while the reader tell us that habeus corpus has been denied. Habeus corpus restricts the authorites from holding somebody without charge for assessive amounts of time. This resonates with the new terror laws Britain and America are introducing. This act in the movie allows the british authorities to arrest any related or friends with a pirate. This also means that Elizabeth fathers gets arrested and killed. However this is not all as British do start giving ransom for whereabouts of jack sparrow and other pirate lords. The acting is comical but good. Johnny Depp is still good as Captain Jack Sparrow. Kiera Knightley is still lovable as Elizabeth Swann. However Chow Yun Fat is excellent as the Chinese pirate and very funny to. The film overall is fun, exciting and politically stimulating for all the family. Pirates of the Caribbean is a worthy final instalment for trilogy. I recommend it for all the family, any who likes pirates or adventure films. |
