This is the third film from actor turned director Guilame Canet. The film focuses on the relationship of a group of friends on their vacation from Paris. There is no leading character in this one. The Films title warns you that you should not trust everything that goes on but after while you just get totally immersed in their world and what goes around them. At the end one of the friends bursts the bubble them all and whoever is watching that they are fraudulent. But during this fraud they all seem to be enjoying each other's company outside of Paris and the film locations at the beach and the big house and the restaurant show that.

The film is a mixture of drama and comedy as it shows the friends interaction with each other on holiday. This Max a successful but tightly-wound hotelier who hosts the pack at his holiday home, Vincent a married chiropractor harbouring a serious man-crush on his oldest friend Max. Marie a single woman and Ludo's ex who finds it hard to connect with men, Eric the good-natured but chronically unfaithful lover of Lea, Antoine who is obsessed wit his long time girlfriend and why she has left him. Also in the group are Max's wife Vero and Vincent's wife Isabelle.

Max is the bossy one can make things tense for the group with Vero his wife have to calm and discipline him like when he shouted at Vincent's son for cheating in a game. Vincent is a married chiropractor who has confessed having feelings for Max. This probably why Isabelle is seen playing rape play a pornographic game as she has not had any sexual contact with her husband. This makes scenes that are weird and uncomfortable whenever Isabelle approaches like when she walks over to Antoine who sitting oust side thinking about a text message or when she asking to join a bunch of her friends going running. Marie who is Ludo's ex can make things lose, disconnected and sometimes distant whenever she around. Though occasionally she can be distant when with people especially during eating time. Everybody would be talking around her and she would lost in her own thoughts. Her other friends would have to talk her loudly or tap her on the shoulder to get her attention. For example after she has sex with a person I her room she refuses him to watch television with her as she wants to be alone. Another example is when a ex lover comes and starts playing the guitar. She quickly leaves and takes the dishes to wash up as she could not sit with them and be alone with her thoughts while their was music. Other times show her drifting off after a brief conversation while other linger.

Eric is the one who gives distractions to the film and his friends sometimes with comedy like when he drives the motor boat onto the road and crashes into a car and sometimes with drama. When he goes to all his friends to ask him whether he should respond to a text message from his girlfriend while telling them to keep it between him and themselves as he has told nobody else. Antoine is the character in the film who draws you in with his obsessions with his long time girlfriend Lea or with why Marie and him never hooked up among other things. For example when he questions Marie in her bedroom you fill that nothing is going on except he questioning her about why they never hooked up. Another example is when he goes to confront girlfriend who broke uo with him she should be spending time him his friends house. When you look at the other people sitting down in the café you do not seem care what they are doing as you are concentrated on Eric shouting at Leah from below her window on the street.

The film overall shows how people they call friends relate and interact with each other and without the smoke screen and pretence which the director calls “little white lies” is very worrying and can make you wonder how those people would react with outright enemies. But this film is accompanied with their little white lies and so it is an insight to society today for the expert viewer a warning to the cautious viewer or to everyone else a reminder of good times to come or a memory of the past. To a perversive viewer they might want to have a life like this.
