Tale of the Karma Sutra review Pirates of the Carribean: At World's end |
Let Me in is an American remake of the Swedish film Let the right one in which is a film adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel Let the Right One In. However the American film is different from its Swedish counter part because “Le the right one in” was more of a mystery film, with you wondering what would happen. Let me in is a horror film, other differences are the sexual content in the film is toned Like one scene in the pool when one of Owen protagonist starts fumbling around with a female classmate. Its the shock and horror of you thinking what the kid's objective was. This is why the film is being known as a thinking man's Twilight and why I think the sexual content and tension is styled like Twilight. The film focuses on what teenage kids do when growing up. Let me in shows the kids using deceit and fraud to do it. For example the swimming pool scene in let the me in when the vampire sweeps in to kill the kids who were drowning the boy. The kids distract the teacher with a fire in the bin outside and then run in to the pool commanding every one out. The film also focuses on how they relate to each other. For instance Owen is known to hesitate when communicating and hanging out with Abby which is the vampire girl's name. An example of this is when Owen hesitates to invite her in to his place when he is in bed and she calls to him from his window sill. He follows that up by hesitating when asking Abby to be his girlfriend. Owen's bullies however are different. The only time they hesitate is when they feel they might get retribution for their actions, like when all three of them corner Owen in the toilet. The lead kid starts hitting him with a baton. The two other kids tell the lead kid that he should stop because they are wondering how he would explain the bruises to his mother. On the other hand Abby does not hesitate like the bullies do when saving Owen from his attackers in the swimming pool. Abby is like this because that she has been doing this along time. On the other hand when Abby and Owen hanging out she often hesitates. For example she hesitates and changes her mind when Owen offers her a sweet . She hesitates following Owen into one of his friend's room. This shows that she is new to this kind of thing. The film is set in Los Alamos where the director chose those particular type of apartment buildings because he and his mother used to live in those apartments. The apartments used made the housing where Owen live very lonely and uninviting. This added to the tension and atmosphere of the film making the whole area dark and lonely. This made it easier for people to be shocked as they witnessed the events unfolded in the film. Overall Matt Reeves shows in this faithful remake how dangerous society has become by focusing on what kids do when they are growing up and what they may inspire to do when they are grown up. |
