Through this memorial we learn that Bruce Wayne has been living as a recluse and Batman hasn't been seen in eight years and has taken the blame for the death Of Harvey Dent. We also learn that crime rate has gone down dramatically because of the anti-crime Dent Act. This makes you wonder about the opening scene where there is a sky jacking of a CIA plane where Bane kidnaps a scientist. So either the people at the memorial are deluded or Bane is operating underground. What brings back Bruce Wayne back into society is a burglary done by Selina Kyle(Anne Hathaway) a cat burglar. Nothing much is known about Selina except that she is strong, sexy in her tight outfit and looks out for herself only well she does at the start of the film. Selina's gives a boost to the film as Selina flirts with Bruce throughout the film. For example when Bruce tracks down Selina. Selina steals a kiss from Bruce to allow her the opportunity to steal his car keys to steal his flashy car. Selina goes through a transformation in the film from a selfish uncaring person to trustworthy ally to Batman. The scenery is impressive and shows that Gotham city has gotten along without Batman. However that is only the surface. Deep underground Bane is secretly taking over sewers. Who is physically tough and commanding and a formidable foe to Batman as they both trained in the League of Shadows. In their first fight Bane literally breaks Batman and sends him to prison somewhere in the middle east. A place where Bane is from. This is after he had destroyed Bruce Wayne financially. This was done by getting Selina Kyle to lift Bruce Wayne's fingerprints from the safe when in route to stealing his Bruce Wayne's mother's necklace. He does this so he can make bad bets on stock exchange with Bruce's money and terrorise the stock exchange at the same time. One event that brings to mind is the kidnapping of some of the traders and taking them on a ride of Gotham city's streets. This is probably Nolan way of attacking the banking and financial elite and calling corrupt. This then makes Bane Nolan's tool for attacking and exposing different establishments that rule the world. This is also when Batman makes his first appearance. Other people that ask Bruce Wayne/Batman to come back into society is Miranda Tate who asks Bruce to back her project. It is this approach that makes Bruce asks Miranda's help to assume control of his company when it goes bankrupt. John Blake played by Joseph Gordon-levitt also visits Bruce telling him how batman inspired him when living in an orphanage. The action is superb especially when Batman chases Bane across Gotham streets, but what was really great is when Batman teams up with Selina after Gotham city is in chaos as Bane has released all criminals. This showed that Batman can forgive people for their past mistakes. Selina takes the bat cycle goes on ground whilst Batman takes the hovercraft and is in the air. They do this because they have to find the nuclear weapon that Bane has released which travels through the city. Overall the dark night rises is a great conclusion to the franchise and throws in some twists in the plot and story to keep the audience on their toes. |
