Head hunter is about a Head hunter who is also and art thief and is based on the novel of the same name by Jo Nesbo. When the film starts the lead character Roger Brown is talking about how to steal valuable works of art. So from the start you would not think that it would lead to a chase , shoot out or force someone to hide in shit. Roger Brown is 1.68m in height and does art theft to pay for his extravagant lifestyle which includes buying things for his beautiful wife and paying the mortgage for his expensive apartment. He finds the people by his recruitment job where he asks questions like whether they have a dog or not and when the house is empty. Roger Brown is not a likeable person but that does not stop the audience from not caring for him. So he is an anti-hero. He is misguided as he believes that the only way to keep his wife is to shower her with pretty things. The plot is that through his wife he meets Clas Greve a swish executive and former elite soldier who has just inherited a priceless Reuben. And Roger decides he wants to have it. However Roger Brown is being set up by Clas and is to have a fall like in a Greek play. The first act introduces the main character in this case Roger Brown which I have already explained. The second act shows a conflict in Head hunters that is Roger getting hands on Clas's Reubens. The third act shows him stealing the art and replacing it with a forgery. The fourth act shows the consequences of his actions which within Head hunters involves a chase around a cold and snowy area and there is reversal of roles. No longer is Roger Brown in control and the hunter. He is now the hunted. Also his wife starts sleeping with Clas. So Clas had managed to take everything he cares about it. Roger finds out the affair when he is in the middle of stealing the Reuben, as he calls his wife and hears the mobile phone ringing nearby under the bed. The fifth act is the resolution, Roger now knows that he doesn't have to give his wife beautiful things to keep her. Overall the film tells us nothing about why Clas Greve is hunting Roger Brown. Also Roger bumps into the policeman in charge of art theft but there is hardly any development in their meeting. You do not see the Policeman chasing after him which is disappointing. He is there at the end wrapping up the story but the wrapping is not done right. The policeman states that Roger’s partner in crime and Clas Greve kill each other but we already know that at the place where the incident happen there was cctv installed. So why haven’t the police asked for the tapes where they would be shown what really happened. |
