2001: A Space Odyssey

Foosball is an animation film about sticking together through thick and thin with a lot of focus on competition and the difference between bullying. The film focuses on how town and city redevelopment is made with particular focus to sports. The animation is fun to watch and brilliantly well done. Foosball copies 2001: A space Odyssey beginning with a bunch of apes knocking a skull which then end differently to 2001 by them playing football with it. Other scenes that show great animation is the table football players being carried by a rat which was quite entertaining.

The storyline is simple but concise. It is about a boy in coffee shop called Amadeo who loves table football. He beats a bully called Flash at it and then few years later has to fight Flash's returning hatred as he tries to redevelop the town, take his girl and his table football. As he now is back as an accomplished football player. This storyline is good because it creates suspense which draws the audience in and makes them care about what actually happens to the characters in the film. Amadeo is challenged to play football to win back the town. So the town's inhabitant have to put away there differences and work as a team. In the end he loses and the town's inhabitants leave so start another town. This where the story is told. It is done as a bed time story told by Amadeo to his son.

The character development seen in the film is mostly soaked up by the kid's table football players, who come to life after a single tear. There were times when you thought the table football players would bail out. One scene shows one of the table football players who has frizzy hair now wanted to go into dance as he had a new frock of hair. This was very funny because the character always cared about his hair and his looks. Another scene that shows character development is the captain of the blue team letting a red team player join in their quest, which took a bit of time as he started boasting about how many times they had beaten his team.

Foosball was the title for the film at London film festival but has been renamed The Unbeatables for Uk release.
