Eddie the Eagle stars Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman. It is based on the true story of British Olympic Ski Jumper Michael “Eddie” Edwards. Throughout the film the film tells you it is Eddie's dream to be an Olympian. However Ski jumping at the winter Olympics was not his first choice. When he was a kid tried all sorts of events. Like hurdling or javelin throwing much to his dad disgust. This is because when he was practising the javelin throwing. He threw a javelin into a window and broke it. His dad immediately shouted at him you are not athlete but that telling off never stopped him. The acting was very good. Taron Egerton brought a lot of hope and comedy to film's main character Michael Edwards. For instance when he was trying to be a down hill skier. He crashed into the other skiers when they were met by the British Olympic committee. Other scenes that show Taron's skill was when he did one jump of a low height. He thought he was able to do a higher jump. This was funny because it goes against standard education. Standard education tells you should practise more than once before going on to do something harder. Hugh Jackman as Bronson Peary is good. He brings guidance as he is Eddie's coach. One of the funniest scenes is when Bronson is teaching Eddie how to move whilst in the air. He tells Eddie to imagine making love to your favourite woman which he then asks who it is. Eddie say it is Bo derek. He then tells him to imagine flying as having sex with Bo Derek. The way he said it as he visualised with his hands was so funny. Straight after that Eddies get on mock ramp with his skis and Bronson lifts him up after he had come of the ramp by his stomach. It was such a marvellous scene. Eddie's parents were also quite good. You have his father who wants Eddie to follow in his footsteps as plasterer and has been a negative influence on Eddie's dream to be an olympian. His mother on the other hand always supporting him. The scene when he is a kid where his mother gives a tin box to him and says you need it to keep to store the medals you are going to win. This scene is repeated when Eddie is an adult and it shows how much his mother cares and believes in him. Overall Edddie the Eagle is a fun and enjoyable film. |
