Men in Black 3 stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as Agent J and K respectively. The plot is Agent J has to go back in time to save his partner and the world from an alien invasion. Given the plot I thought |I was going the find the reason why Agent K is so grumpy but keeps hanging about for the rest of the film. Instead it gives us great insight to how Agent J grew up without a father which we found out during the film. he film can be split into two parts the first part shows Agent J and Agent K's mannerisms. Agent J is very talkative and never shuts up. Agent K is quiet and strict. This makes me wonder how they got to be like this. The second part starts when Agent J time jumps to 1969 starts to unravel how they got to be their present selves . In the 1969 Agent K who is played by Josh Brolin is quite different from Tommy Lee Jones Agent K. For starters he is more sociable and likeable but still has that Texas drawl which is familiar with Tommy Lee Jones' agent K making us buy Josh Brolin Agent K as the young agent K. This makes audience think what happened in 40 years that made him so strict and unsociable. The film hints at a girl called agent O who in 1969 is played Alice Eve who says very little. The reason for this change is that Boris the Animal played by Jemaine Clement breaks out of a lunar prison and time jumps to 1969 to kill Agent K which automatically kills Agent K and starts an alien invasion of earth. Even though Boris the animal has not kill Agent K in 1969 yet. The characters are good. Will Smith does well portraying the Agent J in 1969. For instance he gets stop by the police in 1969 after stealing a car. Will Smith was outraged at being stopped because he is driving a fancy car and tells that to the arresting officers which was quite funny. I only wish that there was more. Michael Stuhlbarg Griffin allows us to get to grips with the whole time travel thing. The Griffin is an alien who is able t see all possible futures simultaneously. Jemaine Clement's Boris is a formidable opponent but still funny. For example he keeps re-correcting people calling him Boris the animal saying it is just Boris. Another comical scene is when Future Boris meets up with 1960's Boris and there is a stand off. Overall there are wholes in Men in Black 3's time travel theory but if you ignore that it is still an enjoyable film. |
