The Jungle Book is a live action film based on a Ruyard Kipling book of the same name. The story is about a boy called Mowgli (Neel Sethi) who is found by a panther called Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) and is then raised by wolves. During the film a tiger called Shere Khan (Idris Elba) spots the boy and tries to order the boy released into his care so he could kill him. This is because the tiger remembers the boy's father who scarred him with fire as he killed the boy's father. After Getting wind of this Bagheera sends Mowgli off to live in the human village. However throughout the journey he is rescued by Baloo the bear (Bill Murray) from Kaa the Snake (Scarlett Johansson). He is stung by bees while collecting honey for Baloo and bullied by King Louis (Christopher Walken) among other things.

One thing I like about The Jungle Book is the environment. Although computer generated like the animals it feels real. Like the barren rock place where the wolves live or the luscious wooded area from where we encountered Kaa. The environment makes the film lighter and not so serious. One part of the environment in the film that was quite striking was King Louis' home. It is an abandoned palace and it is falling apart but still looks majestic.

The voice acting and animation is very good. I quite like Scarlett Johansson spoken hypnotic rhyme of trust in me. Kaa got Mowgli's attention by telling him about his family. She used her voice to hypnotise him so she could get her body wrap around Mowgli's and it would have worked if Baloo had not save Mowgli from Kaa. One of my favourite songs in the film is Baloo's Bare Necessities song. It was quite an uplifting song and gave us a better understanding of Baloo's nature and his nature is sloth.

There is character development in The Jungle Book. In the beginning Bagheera is trying to teach him to be more wolf which did not work very well. This is because in the training when he is trying to out run Bagheera he goes up the tree and starts jumping from tree to tree until he lands on a dead tree and the branch breaks and then the panther catches him. However later when he tries to attack Shere Khan because Shere Khan his foster father Akela, Bagheera stops and says don't attack like a wolf attack him like a man. So Mowgli does that by using tools which his animal friends called tricks. He got some branches tied them together lures Shere Khan to a forest fire which the animals call red flower. He waits on a branch that is about to break for Shere Khan to come. When Shere Khan leaps towards him, Mowgli jumps on some branch he tied together like rope while Shere Khan crashes down into the fire and gets consumed by it. There is character development because Bagheera learns that since Mowgli is not a wolf, he can not fight like a wolf and must fight like a man. Baloo also has character development in the film. At first you see Baloo as a bear who only cares about himself. He saves Mowgli from Kaa the snake because he wanted him get some honey from the bees. However as Baloo spent more time with Mowgli his nature changed. So When Bagheera asked him to help find Mowgli because he was kidnapped by monkeys he agreed. This showed Baloo in a new light. He is a better Baloo one who Mowgli can count as a friend.

Overall The Jungle Book is a fun and exciting film with some laughs.
